If you’re not comfortable with speaking to your employer, or they don’t take action to pay your outstanding superannuation, our Arrears Department may be able to help.

BUSSQ recovers 6 months in unpaid super contributions for 11 members
In October 2014 we had a member call the BUSSQ fund office to advise that his employer hadn't paid him, or any of his co-workers', superannuation since February 2014. The Arrears team reviewed the file and made immediate contact with the employer to discuss how this matter could be finalised as quickly as possible. After several days of liaising with the employer, BUSSQ received contributions for 11 members totaling $32,000. Although this amount isn't the total amount outstanding, the employer has committed to finalising the arrears within 3 months in addition to meeting the current contributions as they fall due.
BUSSQ worked with the Unions to recover $76,125 for 64 members
In March 2014 a CFMEU delegate contacted the BUSSQ fund office on behalf of a member who authorised him to inquire about his superannuation contributions. Upon further investigation we identified this particular employer was not meeting their obligations as per the site EBA.
The Union Officials mediated with the employer and imposed a 5 day deadline to resolve the matter. After much correspondence and a detailed reconciliation of contributions dating back 12 months we recovered $76,125 for 64 members within 7 days of the initial inquiry.

BUSSQ recovers 12 months worth of unpaid super contributions for 16 members
A member contacted our Arrears team in October 2013 to check up on his account and advise that he had not received a super payment for the entire year. After investigations were made, we identified another 15 members employed by XYZ Builders* who also had not received their entitlements for the same period. We were steadfast in our negotiations with this particular employer, which resulted in all 16 members being paid their 12 months worth of outstanding entitlements, plus a 10% interest charge, in January 2014!
BUSSQ recovers 4 years worth of unpaid super totalling $41,000
Four BUSSQ members employed as ABN workers went without their super contributions since 2008 because XYZ employer* told them they were not entitled to it. Upon termination in January 2012 one of these members raised the matter with the BUSSQ Arrears team and we immediately contacted the XYZ employer*. Initially, the employer refused to pay. However, after engaging our solicitors and 5 months of lengthy negotiations the XYZ employer* agreed to pay over $41,000 in outstanding super dating back to June 2008. This is an excellent outcome considering the age of the outstanding contributions.
BUSSQ recovers $1 million of unpaid super for members
In May 2012, a large employer* entered into administration leaving its workers doubtful about receiving their super. Since then we have received in excess of $1 million worth of outstanding superannuation for our members, owed by this employer. Our team has worked diligently to reconcile and allocate amounts for more than 12 months of outstanding contributions. By working closely with the unions and major contractors it helped guarantee all our members received their entitlements.
