Employers given six months to pay unpaid super

Unpaid super

A new law gives employers a one off chance to pay their employees’ unpaid super guarantee contributions without suffering the normal SGC penalty.

The law, passed in February, gives employers a six month amnesty period to come forward and pay unpaid super.

To take advantage of the amnesty employers must pay all that is owing to their employees, including interest.

Following the amnesty period, the penalties charged for not meeting your super guarantee obligations will significantly increase, up to 200%, on top of paying the super guarantee contributions owed to employees.
